There was also a news that the department has started getting complaints about old or dated milk, used in making milk or fruit shakes, stored in cool bars. Customers should check the date of the milk when it is taken out of the freezer. Also check whether rotten fruits are being used to make juices

Meanwhile, food safety officials have warned against drinking juices from the roadside cool bars that use block ice. They have started monitoring drinking water tankers. The department will food safety raids starting April.

I got to know recently that the government is making consious efforts of warning the residents and have warned all ice makers and water tanker operators and asked them to ensure quality. We are advising people against drinking juices that use block ice. In cool bars ask for ice cubes as they are safer

I came to know that there was threat of cholera also due to contamination of water through ice used for storing fish. The ice water can fall into any water body and contaminate it.

Yeah..exactly. I agree with you...This is a season when the number of cases of acute diarrhoeal disease (ADD), hepatitis-A, typhoid and gastroenteritis go up. You have to watch out for ice used by juice vendors. There is a huge element of health risk in it. That is why the residents of Kochi should be careful about such proneness to these diseases.

I think that there were 5,441 cases of acute diarrhoeal disease (ADD) reported in Ernakulam in the first two months of this year. I came to know that this is going to be even more during the coming months of summer.

Yeah..that's true. In the case of Diarrhea, the rise of temperature and the contamination was one of the major reason for worry. The number of diarrhea cases has begun shooting up, with an average of 85-90 cases registered every day in the district.

I came to know that when last year,, in March 19, Kochi has recorded the highest for the month at 36 degree celsius. Then the number of diarrhoea cases rose up. I think this year the temperature is higher than last year. This will be the reason for the high amount of diseases spreading in Kochi.

You know what..As temperatures soar, reaching mid-30 degrees Celsius over the past few weeks, doctors and food safety officials have issued warnings against drinking water and juices from unhygienic sources.

Yeah..this is a serious problem. You should watch out for contamination of ice and water. I think this is because of the temperature problem. As the problem is due to temperature, there should be efforts from the government to tackle the problem.

Oh..actually, what is the present condition? Is there any reported cases? Can I know more about this?
