I feel that its the need of the hour to bring down stamp duty in the states like Madhya Pradesh to 5% from the existing rate of 6.25%. All the thriving states like New Delhi, Punjab and Haryana have stamp duty of 5%, which is a reason why the real estate market there is so successful.

The existing stamp duty in MP is a little too high, even I feel that. It could be counted as one of the factors behind the slow market here at present. Maybe a reduction would actually help in attracting more investors to the market.

Indore is a promising city for real-estate players as well as property buyers and MP is also an emerging state of the county. In this way, I think the State Government should help this recession-hit sector, by lowering the stamp duty charges a little bit.

Ok so there is no such stamp duty reduction happening in the city. But a lot of people are actually demanding it, because of the falling market, its hopeful that a lowered stamp duty charge will actually help the situation.
