One thing that has been increasing is the cost of the project. The cost of the project has escalated from Rs 21.5 crore to Rs 30 crore. IDA has extended the deadline by over 12 times.
Work on this ROB started back in 2007 to connect Annapurna Nagar with Kesharbagh and Bhawarkuan area. It was expected to be completed by 2008, but major chunk of it still hangs fire and no progress is seen yet.
The petitioner and the residents, meanwhile, are furious about this. Not that they haven't been before. They are saying that this "construction" drama defeats the whole purpose of curbing the traffic in this area which the people have been suffering from for the past 7 years.
The company, which has been given the contract for construction of the ROB in Kesharbagh, has sought some time to file its detailed reply. It has said that it will submit it by the next hearing for the case is scheduled on April 7.
The railways too responded over this and it said that there was nothing pending from its side and that everything was lacking from the contractor's end and so the project was delayed. Supposedly they did not have any role in this.
Exactly, what the hell was the IDA thinking when they gave the contract? Probebly they just too some money as bribe and offered it to the highest offerer. Which is why they are stuck in this. Are they not supposed to look at the company's credentials befor offering them work?
IDA in its affidavit said that the contractor was free to use the resources that are required to complete the project but that it did not do so because it was an inefficiennt one. I don't see the point now about this.
This affidavit IDA filed was in a reply to a PIL filed by residents of Kesharbagh, who have been suffering for years due to callous attitude of the IDA and contractors towards construction of the 800-metre bridge that was being done for 8 years.
The Indore Developmental Authority has finally replied to the notice that the high court had asked them to regarding the Kesharbagh bridge's work progress and has put the entire blame on the constructing company saying that the company was behind the delay and not them.
