Latest Answer: Hi, as per the Hyderabad Water Supply and Sewage Board, the STP was expected to facilitate the generation of usable methane or biogas from treating sewage water, and also be able to produce power without any pollution. The treated water would be of the quality that would meet the requirement for surface water disposal standard, which in turn is hoped to improve the overall quality of the Musi river water. While the project did undergo a massive failure due to mostly corrupted governing bodies, the Musi river is in even worse condition now and the residents have to deal with potentially harmful water.
Q:Hi, I have heard many issues about water problem of shortage and pollution in the locality of Nagole in Hyderabad. Can anyone give me some inputs on this? Thank you.
Latest Answer: I agree with you, it is the Water Board to blame at any cost, as the STPs installed have not been effective at all as the one at Nagole has extremely low capacity, and one is even dysfunctional. Additionally, out of about 18 major drains, some of the local drains spew raw sewage from many surrounding colonies directly into the Musi river. The Andhra Pradesh High court did issue a direct order to the state government of hyderabad to alternatively check the discharge of sewahe water into the river but this was never done.
