Q: Will property taxes for rental property be deductible in 2018?
Latest Answer: Income from self-occupied property, rented-out property and deemed income from vacant property (including houses), other than one self occupied house, is taxable under the head of Income from property. A taxpayer pays tax on the annual taxable value of the property which is calculated after adjusted for following 1) Gross annual value (GAV) of the property (rent received or receivable or deemed rent), 2) Less actual municipal taxes paid for the property, 3) Net annual value (NAV), 4) Less deductions available under section 24.

Q: Can you please provide me information regarding the stamp duty for a registered lease deed agreement, duration 5 years in Ahmedabad? Is the stamp duty same for both either purchasing property OR leasing property?
Latest Answer: Hi Saurabh, For lease deed fees, you have to pay Rs.100, Stamp duty will be 1 percent on the total amount if you are leasing below 30 years and Registration charges, you have to pay 1 per cent subject to a maximum of Rs.20000.

Latest Answer: HI Amish, One has to pay a stamp duty of 4.9% in Ahmedabad whereas registration charges will be 1%. This rate is one of the lowest across the major cities of our country. Thus, you will have to pay Rs.171500 as a stamp duty and Rs.30000 as a registration charges as 1% of 35 lakh Rs.35000, which is more than 30000 so you have to pay Rs.171500 Plus 30000 so total is Rs.201500.

Latest Answer: Hi Rayna, 1) For transfers other than in (b) in urban area :- 8% + 25% of duty = 10% on market value of Property 2) For transfer relating to premises in Co-operative Society registered or deemed to have been registered under Gujarat Co-operative Society Act, 1961, by such society in favor of its member or by such member in favour of another member or for transfer of premises relating to Board Constituted under Gujarat Housing Board Act, 1961, or Gujarat House Board Act, 1972 or to which provisions of Gujarat Ownership Flats Act, 1973 apply :- 6 % + 25% of duty = 7.5% on market value of Property.

Q: Hello,

I would like to know revised stamp duty and registration charges in Gujarat State. Soon, I am going to buy "resale" property and would like to know all hidden charges which are excluding from the loan amount.

Home loan amount is 21 lakhs and property is 12 Years old. In addition to this, who will bear Stamp Duty?

Means, Seller/Buyer will bear it equally or wholly bear by buyer only?

Latest Answer: Hi.. have somethings to share about property tax in Ahmedabad. i hope you know that AMC proposed a 100 percent hike in tax for residential properties and 45 percent for non-residential propertie. But standing committee has accepted the proposal to increase residential property tax rate by 60 percent i.e from 10 per sq m to Rs 16 per sq m and 27 percent hike in commercial property tax rates i.e from Rs 22 per sq m to Rs 28 per sq m approximately.

Latest Answer: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative to provide its citizens with e-payment service. The procedure is simple you just have to login to the gateway website, and then have to give details of your old dues, outstanding payments and taxpayer tenement number. You can pay your tax by using debit card, credit card or internet banking and then you have to provide your email ID and phone number to confirm the payment.
