Q: i am working my own buisness in a village panchayat of 10000 population in m.p. i want to know how much property tax is there on a plot of 2400sq ft.

Q: I have a plot at Hare Krishna Vihar Indore, where to find account details and pay property tax for the same. For other properties at Indore, I can pay online at imcindore.org, but somehow I am not able to search about Hare Krishna Vihar
Latest Answer: Hi, Outside Bhopal Municipal Corporation Limits- For Houses - Same as mentioned above for houses, only excluding 1 percent Municipal Corporation Fee For open land - Same as mentioned above for houses, only excluding 1 percent Municipal Corporation Fee Note- If the buyer is a woman, she is exempted from 2 percent charge on stamp duty.

Q: Hello, I had purchased a flat in Indore last year in June-2015. As the building is under construction The builder is charging me Service Tax of 3.5% on the total agreement value.
Now the property is constructed & at the time of registration, builder is asking for 5% VAT on the total agreement value. My question is VAT amount is calculated on the total construction cost of my alloted area (as in this case 1190 sqft) & not on the Total agreement value of selling? Also he is not providing me with the receipt of the VAT charges applicable.


Also can you clear me with the current registry charges + any other charges applicable at time of registry?

The builder is asking for 8.5% of the total agreement value, but i think the registration is done on the market value not agreement value?
Latest Answer: Hi Rumit, For any sale to attract VAT, it should involve transfer of goods from one person to another. In case of under-construction properties, its the transfer of ownership rights from the developer to buyer in the form of a sale agreement, in select states. This tax is governed under the ‘works contract’ in the VAT law. For instance, VAT is charged at the rate of 1% of agreement value in Mumbai and Pune and 5% in Bangalore, but there is no VAT levied for apartments purchased in Noida-NCR, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Latest Answer: With the increase in the service tax, the cost of construction wil increase and also the rental value in the city will also increase by some amount, so this will have a negative impact on the real estate market.

Q: Hey guys, is the municipal corporation of Indore taking any strict action against the collection of property tax in the city?
Latest Answer: the city has around 4 lakh registered property tax payers. And if the property tax is not paid on time, then there will be a huge loss for the municipality only in terms of revenue. The authorities are actually suggesting that we pay the taxes before the 31st of December, just to be safe and not face a fine.

Q: Hi guys, what is this controversy regarding the Treasure Island mall not paying their dues? I was considering buying an apartment under the Treasure group. Should I go ahead with it or reconsider my options again?
Latest Answer: Basically this Treasure Island mall was occupying more space than they were allotted and were paying property tax for. So when the IMC found out, they called them out on it, and asked them to pay the appropriate property tax, acc to the total area that they are actually occupying.

Q: Hi guys, I'm hearing about this water tax waiver here in Indore. What is that all about? Can anyone elaborate a little?
Latest Answer: Actually let me elaborate a little. Ok so under this, anybody who had not being regular in paying their water taxes will receive an ecxemption till March 31 2012. So basically you just have to pay the water bills from April 2012. Its a great way of clearing up your records.
