Latest Answer: The Seeranaickenpalayam centre run by Humane Animal Society is the only place that is functionally implementing the ABC program. But now civic authorities have said that they have signed MoU's with 2 animal NGO's to help with the proceedings of sterilization. They've also increased the monthly target from 250 to 500 in order to catch up. But this is hardly going to dent the city's street dog population which, according to the estimate of animal welfare organisations, stands at around 70,000 to 1 lakh dogs. Also the civic authorities have decided to take on sterilisiing street dogs as per residents in trouble and not per geographical pattern. So work is extremely slow, hopefully problem should be solved soon.
