Palarivattom Flyover Construction

Q: I heard that the Kerela Roads and Bridges Corporation are planning on a Palarivattom road widening project? Will this help ease traffic in this area? Anyone who know please tell me because I am moving there soon. Thanks!

Hey btw, as of now the construction prcess has stopped. Yeah, there was an unavailability of crushed stones and manufactured sand, which are essential for construction purpose. So the RBDCK stopped working. Even some land acquisition problems had delayed the process earlier, I dont know how they are going to keep up wtihin the 18 month deadline.

I know that this flyover is going to be 600m in length and almost 17 m wide. There was some delay in the construction process, because of the election process, the work started 6 months after the deadline! But as of now they are looking to finish it up by Nov 2015

Don't worry, I really don't think you're going to be facing many transportation problems in this locality. Traffic used to be a huge headache but the situation is much better now with all these road development projects that are in process. The metro rail project is also going to be an important transportation facility here, that will make traffic flow subside on the roads. The beams for the flyover are to be made at the site itself because it's quite expensive. Full fledged work is going to resume only after monsoon season.

Work has already begun in Edapally side of the flyover. Right now works related to piles, pile caps and pier is what is currently being undertaken for the first 3 months. 8.5 m is barricaded for piling work. district collector to complete the land acquisition quickly. Work on the centre span of the flyover and junction improvement works will be done after full land acquisition is completed. Project should be completed a year from now!

The piling work for the 620 metre long flyover in Palarivattom started on 1st June. Private company RDS Project Ltd has been given the responsibility of project implementation. I think the cost of this project is 72.6 crore and this includes 47.7 crore for construction and 24.9 crore for land acquisition. 54 cents of land had to be acquired for this project. Streetlights and other obstacles have already been removed on a 350 m stretch where work has started. Widening of the service road near Pipeline Junction will definitely help ease traffic in this area. :)

Actually the Motor vehicles department officials changed their mind about the bus being diverted and other vehicles are going to be diverted instead. reason is because they want priority to be given to public transport, which is completely understandable as I used to travel by bus 24/7 at some point and hated it when it had to travel down narrow roads. The corporation and MVD are also seriously thinking about road widening works and I think the project has already been commissioned. I know that NHAI is to design the flyover construction at Edapally, Vytilla and Palarivattom. This is going to indirectly affect the residents so that's why NHAI had to check with the corporation before they can start constructing the flyovers.

I don't really know about the project but I know that the corporation had major plans for road diversions because of the traffic congestion that is there in many roads. Buses are now diverted through inroads so that the Palarivattom Kaloor stretch can be eased from heavy traffic flow. There was literally no space for buses to move and because of this they had to be diverted to Thammanam-Pulleppady road. Buses had no space because of the ongoing metro rail project in the area. And now drain pipes in the stretch from kaloor stadium to Palarivattom are to be removed for the metro rail project.
