Q: Hey, my name is Aditya. I wanted to know about the progress of water supply projects from the Narmada river. Can anyone help me in getting some info?
Hey there, I am a part of the municipality here. Some of the officials that I talked to said that the tendering process has been delayed due to the general elections last year and due to the corrections carried out in the DPR. They have invited bids for a consultant, who will see to it that the project is implemented in accordance with the plan within the stipulated time.
The Narmada-Kshipra link water supply has been marked as an early bird project under DMIC, but it is surprising that there was no mention about the Pithampur investment zone in the union budget. this is even when 1,200 crore rupees was allocated for DMIC projects in Gujarat and Maharashtra
But you know, the industry association puts the figure at 8 million litres per day, and they say that it is able to recycle about 5 million litres of water per dayand meets the gap by using water tankers. But, there is a real concern over the delay in the DMIC water supply project and raised doubts about its funding.
From what I came to know, at present, the Pithampur industrial area suffers from acute water shortage every summer when water levels in the reservoirs come down. There has been already a huge demand for water even befor the summer is coming this year.
Yeah...as against a demand of 18 million litres per day of water in Pithampur industrial area, now the government is claiming that they have piped water supply at about 11.5 million litres per day.
hi, I think that the last date for the submission of bids is March 11. One of my friends in the state industry department told me that there will be further progress will happen only when the consultant is selected.
It was only in the last month that the SPV — Pithampur Jal Prabhandhan Company Ltd invited the bid to select a consultant for the review of the detailed project report (DPR) and other related works for the improvement of the water supply system for the industrial area.
I am really unsatisfied with the kind of work that is going on for this project. While the trust had sanctioned the project in September 2013 and a special purpose vehicle (SPV) was formed more than a year ago, the tendering process has been delayed due to one reason or the other.
As far as I came to know about the Narmada Water project, there was a deadline to finish the first phase of the project by March 31, 2016. But, right now, the deadline has been pushed back by a couple of years.
Sure, the project will be completed in various phases. I came to know that this will involve laying around 28 km of pipeline for providing 90 million litres per day (MLD) water to Pithampur industrial area, Pithampur-Dhar-Mhow investment region and other nearby industrial hubs.
Yeah..I think that the it has been more than 18 months after the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Trust cleared the Pithampur water supply project to lay the pipeline from the Narmada-Kshipra link. I think that there has been little progress on the ground.
