Q: Has the new guidelines have come up for BMC property tax?

Latest Answer: Around 81 % of the properties in Mumbai remain unaffected from the recent hike in property tax. Also, with the new capital value-based property tax system in place, many are unhappy regarding the same and many plan to contest in High Court. Further, for 27% of the residential properties in Mumbai, the tax bills have already been reduced as compared to the old rateable value-based system.

Latest Answer: Hi Kaushik, I would suggest you to visit the the BMC office or MCGM ward office under whose jurisdiction your property comes and you can get all the forms and detailed procedure as per your needs.

Q: What percentage of pay should be paid to the builder as VAT?

Latest Answer: 1 % on Agreement Cost effective from April, 2010 / Service Tax 1/4 of 12.36 that is 3.09 % on Agreement Cost. Once you Registered your Agreement for Sale, you are liable to pay Vat & Service Tax. There is no Service Tax & Vat on Ready Possession Properties.
