Q: I heard that more garbage processing units are to come up in Pune. Why is it so, what is the issue?

Latest Answer: With the increasing population, there has been an increase in garbage from every area in Pune. So, to keep this in check, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to increase the number of garbage processing units across the city. With the existing mechanism, PMC is able to process 70% of the city’s garbage and is not able to take care of whole 1,300-1,400 metric tonne garbage that is generated every day.According to PMC officials, they are planning to increase small garbage processing units across the city as Hanjer project is unable to take all load in the city.
