Q: Hi, I'm a mother of two and I'm shifting to Fort Kochi area in the next two months. I was wondering about the quality of schools in this locality. Can anyone tell me about schools? My kids are in the 4th and 7th std. My father-in-law, who had a recent operation is also moving in with us So I'd like to know about hospitals, parks, restaurants, and shops in the area.
Despite all the complaints the Kerala Water Authority is delaying the release of water every day by giving some excuse or the other. Sometimes they say that they are repairing a pump house, and give excuses about problems of the interconnection at Karnakodam
Yes, even the local councillor does not have any idea of what is happening, and when they will get water. Not only residents, but also tourists who live in the Fort Kochi area are facing problems. This area has these frequent water issues mostly because of a pump failure. It also takes a lot of time to fix these faulty machines also.
But the water situation here is not so good. Residents have been facing water crisis, on and off for a year now. People have sometimes not had water for 10 days, and although they have complained to officials, there is no response to the complaints.
The industrial hub is coming up on the northern part of this project, covering an area of 2600 acres. It will mostly be an oil hub, processing a wide variety of crude oils. Apparently the proposed industrial harbour will be deep enough to provide berthing for large product-carriers of up to the capacity of 1,30,000 tonnes. A project of such magnitude will affect the whole region's economy. Real estate growth will follow.
Yes two breakwaters will be constructed on either side of the approach channel of the port, off Puthuvypeen in north and off Fort Kochi in the south, with associated land masses on both sides. The part that is in the South towards Fort Kochi belongs to the Navy, who are investing in this project.
Fort Kochi is a good investment venue as well, because of the upcoming industrial hub that is going to be set up here by the govt. The land is being developed as part of the Cochin Outer Harbour, an expansion project of the Cochin Port Trust.
