Q:The state govt. is considering opening up land parcels under the no-development zones as well as plots belonging to Indian defence personnel in an effort to build affordable houses in Mumbai.
Latest Answer: But one thing govt has to keep in mind that all No Development Defence Zones"are mostly forest lands. And if those are used for housing, then we will loose the green cover on earth. I think Maharashtra Govt. should look into this matter before taking any such decision.
Q:Hi,It seems that the Bombay High Court has granted relief to all property owners who have to pay steep property tax on the basis of a new system introduced in 2010.
Latest Answer: Hi Deepankar,
Now the property owners can now pay the property tax under the old un-amended rate with 50% differential between the old and the new rates. In a way we are only benefited as we can continue paying the same rate until the revised tax regime is applicable.
Latest Answer: From May, it will be easy to know whether you have won the lottery for affordable houses in Mumbai.
Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) is planning to send SMS alerts and emails to those who have won after minutes of the lottery draw.
Currently, the procedure is very tedious. This move will bring relief to applicants and prevent the Mhada website from crashing on the day of the lottery. Also, applicants need not visit the local lottery centre or website if they get emails or SMS alerts.
