Statistics say that there are about 800-1000 buses that make their way through Coimbatore on a daily basis. If the metro rail is constructed, the streets will be much more free than they are now. And yes, there are also plans to upgrade the airport here to international standards. It is, of course, an international airport, but that is only for namesake. There is still a lot of upgrading that needs to be done. Currently, the terminal building has been modernised, and the authorities are looking to acquire land for the expansion of the runway.
