Q: Why Bangalore tops the list among the US-based NRIs?
Latest Answer: Demand for housing projects in the city, generally the premium ones, are driven by techies on an H1B visa. Investments in apartments that fall in the price bracket Rs 75 lakh- Rs 1 crore, by such techies are prevalent in the city. Demand for villas valuing Rs 3 crore and above, is visible too. The demand for high-end homes is mainly triggered by PIOs, who have been in the US for more than a decade and are willing to relocate in the country.

Q: My client is Indian with British Pass port. He would like to buy residential and commercial property in Mumbai. Cost of Residential property is about 5 Cr. and commercial will also be in the same range or little more than that. Are there any restrictions or additional formalities for buying and registration.

Latest Answer: Except agricultural land, a person of Indian origin (PIO) can buy property in India. All the payments should be made through money held in NRE NRO accounts or through normal banking channels.
