The proposal was kept forward in a recent meeting of the standing committee PMC. As per plan, civic body finalises the rates of tax every year as per section 99 of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation (BPMC) Act, 1949, and keeps it before standing committee for approval. If approved, it becomes a part of the municipal commissioner’s annual civic budget. The General Body (GB) has to approve the new tax rates before February 20 of every year.
