Q: Sir
I wish to buy a 20 year old, builder owned property.
property details
630 sq ft 2nd floor Prem's Corner
sr.no.29,House n0.41.
Dhankavdi Pune 43.
It is not registered yet with corporation, hence property tax not charged.
so do we first pay the property tax and then get it tranferred with a sale deed or vice versa?
How much property tax will have to be paid and what are the documents required?
Latest Answer: Yes, the PMC property tax department issues a bill in the name of property owners stating that if you pay the bill before a given date you will get a rebate on the property tax. So, people or residents in Pune are trying to avail these benefits. It is a good way to incentivize and at the same time get dues well in advance for the PMC

Q: What is the current status of property tax hike in Pune?
Latest Answer: Infrastructure is the key to growth for real estate and the cornerstone of infrastructure is roads. The importance of roads to human being is vouchsafed by how long they have been around. The oldest paved road in recorded history was made sometime between 2600-2200 BC in Egypt; but it was the Roman Empire which brought out the fullest potential of roads traversable by wheeled, horse-powered carriages. Q: I heard there is a hike in property tax in Pune. Is it official? When will it be announced?
Latest Answer: Hi Pravakar, it hasn't been announced yet. Earlier, it was decided that there would be a hike of 8% in Pune property tax for the financial year 2013-14. The proposal was kept forward in a recent meeting of the standing committee PMC. As per plan, civic body finalises the rates of tax every year as per section 99 of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation (BPMC) Act, 1949, and keeps it before standing committee for approval. If approved, it becomes a part of the municipal commissioner’s annual civic budget. The General Body (GB) has to approve the new tax rates before February 20 of every year.
