Q:Are the authorities at all concerned about these open wells in Kakkanad? Is something being done about them or what? I’m sick of these unhygienic surroundings here.
Latest Answer: Did you guys know that these wells are the reason behind the increasing cases of fever and leptospirosis in the locality of Kakkanad? What worries me is that there are people who actually depend on underground water for their daily needs, and this same water is contaminated beyond measure, because of unhealthy practices. As to your question, no I don’t think anybody is doing anything about this problem. The DMO has clearly stated that they don’t have any projects planned to take care of this problem. Even the Health Standing committee has washed their hands off of it.
