Q: Hello everyone, Garbage has been a very big problem in Kochi no? Now, is there any new system here to reduce the garbage dumping in Kochi. How is the situation now?

Latest Answer: I have a suggestion to give to the authorities about this. I think the police would be able to register more cases if there was adequate surveillance. There should be cctv cameras for tracking such acts because not having these facilities is disadvantageous as most people dump waste at night.

Q: Hello, I got to know that there will be a second smart city in Kochi. Is it true? Can you give me more details about this?

Latest Answer: Unlike other major ports, Kochi does not have large areas of land for development and therefore the available land needs to be utilised properly in accordance to the environmental rules and regulations. This is the greatest advantage of the Kochi city.

Q: Hi, I want to know about the widening of the Vytilla Thrippunithura Petta Road in Kochi. Why is the project getting so much delayed?

Latest Answer: I think that KMRL has also availed loans from foreign agencies including AFD. But for land acquisition, the state government will have to provide the funds. It is because the government is facing severe financial crunch, that the KMRL Board had decided to explore the possibilities of availing an additional term loan from Co-operative Bank.

Q: Hi, I am interested to know more about the progress of all the land acquisition works that are going on in Kochi. Is there any progress legally on this direction?

Latest Answer: I am from this area and I am of the opinion that a letter sent by DMRC to KMRL stated that the estimated cost of land per cent is Rs. 35 lakh and the total land proposed to be acquired is 46.4 cents. The acquisition cost is estimated as Rs. 16.24 crores. But the Kochi Corporation secretary in a counter affidavit filed in another case stated that the amount fixed for per cent is Rs. 14 lakh.
