Q: The Executive Committee of our Apartment Owners' Assn. is not maintaining several registers for the last 2 years. which are required as per A.P.Societies Registration Act 35 of 2001. The E.C. is not conducting Elections as per the procedure, nor submitting the accounts to the General Body. I suspect misappropriation of communities funds.

Can I approach the Registrar/ sub-Registrar of Societies in the State? How far it will help the community. This is about a Apartment Owners' Welfare Association in Hyderabad
Latest Answer: I am a chartered accountant and am an auditor for many housing societies in Hyderabad. I also write a blog called www.hydapt.com on this subject. I will share my perspective. I presume your society is registered with the AP Societies Registration Act 2001. This Act does not provide for any penalties in cases of default. The only recourse available to you is a civil suit in a court. Regards, Satya Sridhar
