Q: Hello, what is the issue regarding the disruption of water supply to the Ganapathy locality in Coimbatore and others around it?
Latest Answer: As a result of this misunderstanding, some officials from the forest department started fighting with the irrigation dept employees and managed to break the checkpost too. This led to further retaliation by the irrigation officials when they locked up the pump house and other installations of the reservoir. They also absconded from duty demanding action against the forest officials. The truce meeting suggested that the checkposts be manned by officials from both departments, and this is hoped to solve the problem.

Q: hello, I am aware of the water woes faced by the residents of Ganapathy and neighboring localities. What are the steps being taken by the corporation to solve this?
Latest Answer: While it is quite surprising that the project is actually nearing completion, it is important to know that this was possible for the civic body because of the new main storage reservoir that was being supplied to Pilloor 11, giving it about 65 million litres everyday. The point of the Pilloor 11 water tank is that it can now supply water to the areas that were previously being supplied by Pilloor 1 that was backed by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage board. The Pilloor 11 project will supply about 125 million litres per day, which should be enough for Ganapathy and areas surrounding it.

Q: Hi, I am recently come across some dispute about land encroachment with government in the Ganapathy locality of Coimbatore. Can anyone explain on this?
Latest Answer: While I totally agree that it is wrongful encroachment on the part of the settlers to take up land that has been reserved by the corporation, it is also quite sad that the body has onky been able to claim back 15 out of the 480 + plots. Mostly the corporation has demolished existing encroachments to reclaim the land, such as the swimmimg pool of the Mint Homes property. Alternatively, the corporation has introduced a proposal to gather all residential welfare associations and voluntary organizations to help develop reserve sites into parks. Of course after the meetings, the idea remained just that - an idea on paper.

Q: Hello everybody. I will have to take my grandmother to Ganapathy in Coimbatore for medical treatment. I want to know what the hospital infection rates are in the area and what measures have been taken to prevent it.
Latest Answer: Hi. Although it is true that there are many shortcomings in hospital facilities in the area, these are expected to be rectified by seeking help from the expertise of larger hospitals around Coimbatore which can supply solutions for technical as well as operational challenges to be able to adopt the basic practices of infection control. As you must be aware, infection acquired in hospital premises usually worsens the condition of the patient and overall leads to an increase in the cost of treatment. You concern is perfectly valid, and I hope you find a good reputed medical service for the cause.

Q: Hello. Before I move to Ganapathy I want to know if there are or have been any water supply issues in the area. Any information will help, thanks!
Latest Answer: Hello. There is substantial problems of water supply in the area of Ganapathy and the reason for this is the change of the governing municipal body. The problems were not so worse before so its not like the area had an explosion of population in just a year. The rest of the population who depends on the water supply from borewell are also suffering with the same problems because there are only nine borewells out of which 7 have no supply at all. Two of the other borewell have open walls and dysfunctional motors, and there are leaks in the main supply lines as well.

Q: Hello. I will be moving to Ganapathy locality soon. As i am very particular about rain water harvesting,I want to know if the issue has been taken seriously in the area or not.
Latest Answer: Yes, the issue of rain water harvesting has been taken seriously in the locality of Ganapathy of late, but it was not always like this. This is mostlu because strict measures were not taken by the civic bodies earlier. Now the minicipal corporation has warned that water supply will be cut off to commercial as well as residential buildings that do not have RWH structures installed. About 138 RWH structures so far existing already on building were found to be faulty and are being repaired in all 4 zones headed by the corporation. Additionally, the concept of rain water harvesting was promoted at the VOC park grounds recently by the city municipal corporation in the form of an exhibition.
