Q:I saw in news , the Cabinet extended the cut-off date to be eligible for regularization from March 2002 to June 2014. Can anyone give clear idea about this?

As per Urban Development Minister, we took this matter to Cabinet after holding rounds of meetings with DDA, Lt Governor, Delhi government, MPs from Delhi and three municipal corporations. I also held meeting with law secretary and UD secretary prior to firming up this proposal. First, we gave three years' protection to all such colonies from demolition and sealing. Then we got Cabinet approval to regularize them. It will take some time for regularization, but we will do it.

The Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation ministry has also accepted all 38 recommendations made by the 21-member Rajya Sabha select committee which submitted its report last week.

According to sources, the committee has concluded the suggestion to bring all projects constructed over more than 500 sq-mt or if nothing else 8 flats under the range of the proposed law. The proposals are liable to be submitted to the Parliament.
