Q: I bought a house in Chennai for which i am the second owner. Recently the association members informed me that the first owner hasn't paid the corpus fund and they asked me to pay the corpus fund. It seems the first owner had given the cheque which was bounced a year back but the association just informed me. Can you please let me know how to proceed.

Hi Rajesh, It is better to talk with the first owner of house and clarify the doubts.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I would definitely talk to my first owner to sort out this issue amicably. In the mean time i have one more question. If the first owner doesn't agree to pay the corpus fund, Can i file a case againat him? The tricky part is the cheque given by him is to the association and i basically feel the association should have filed a case against him as soon as the cheque bounced? but now it is 1 1/2 yrs since the cheque bounced. Please clarify.

I would rather suggest you to take advice from your legal expert who deals with this kind of cases.
