Q: Is stamp duty payable in ahmedabad gujarat for a property transfer due to divorce settlement ?

Hi Rayna! In Gujarat stamp duty is charged at 4.9% and registration charges 1% of the market price of the property or the transaction value, whichever is higher. Currently female property owners are exempt from the registration fees of 1%. This offer of registration fees for females is aimed at empowering women and motivating families to register properties in the name of female family members.
