Property tax information of PCMC
Q: Hi, i wanted to know who has to pay Property Tax? Which properties are accountable for Property Tax assessment?

Hi, I purchased the flat in PCMC area in Feb 2014. Now Property tax invoice is for the year April 2013-2014 and April 2014 - 2015. Since I purchased the flat in 2014, I should be paying only for 2014-15? I am asked to pay for the period which I did not own the flat.What should I do?
Property tax demand is for the entity "property" and not against the individual who owns/owned. Having said that, you are supposed to pay pro-rata tax for the period flat is in your possession. For the period prior to that, builder has to bear. The same issue happened to me while I bought the flat in PCMC and is not a specific problem to PCMC but prevalent everywhere. Take this with your builder to claim pro-rata tax from him.
