It is only getting bad to worse in Kochi with regard to the water-logging situation. Low-lying localities in the city are completely water-logged. The corporation had promised to clean the canals and sewage drains before the rains came, but they haven't done so. In 2013, the corporation had spent Rs. 5 crores to clean the drains, but it seems like it is money down the drain. Hey there, DLF New Town Heights in Kochi is a great option, I’ve checked it out myself. I dont know about banks loans, but facilities wise, they have lots to offer. It is sort of a township, they have a preschool on site, so if your kids are very young, thats a plus. They have a shopping mall on site too, which is what I like alot, I hate travelling far just to buy a T-shirt or something. In general its a nice place too, there is a huge garden (8 acres I think), and a general clubhouse for hanging out. Oh yeah, it is very true. You should try and live in Kochi, it is becoming unbearable the past few years. There is so much pollution in the air because the population has increased, there are more vehicles on the street now, and also there is a lot of open drains and garbage is thrown on the street. All these industries in the city emit more than the permissible limit and the government is not doing anything about it. Someone told me that there is only around 15 per cent of oxygen content in the air that we breathe in Kochi and most of the air contains increasing levels of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons.Oh yeah, it is very true. But the good news is that the local government has been working to eradicate this problem, and they are making good progress. The drainage system is being reworked upon and the count of people being affected by this is decreasing steadily. Yes the water problem was a pain for all the residents of Aluva. Even last year there were some minor water issues that could be easily fixed. In general, a lot of places in Kochi went very dry last year. Global warming I guess :P If you're thinking about investing in Aluva, please know that it is a very good idea. Aluva is 28 km from the city of Kochi and is located along the NH 47 so travelling to other parts of the city becomes easy! :) Infrastructure development in this area is well developed because there is high demand for property as well as a number of IT companies. Yeah the metro rail project is Tripunithra's saving grace! Also the funds for this project have been increased so that means the plan for a shopping complex come bus bay next to metro station might also become a reality. This will ease some of the civic issues that Tripunithra faces like traffic, pollution and unhygienic conditions. Non conventional sectors like Tripunithra have been chosen to be part of the Metro Rail to increase the locality's property revenue. So that development can happen everywhere in Kochi simultaneously! I really like Kalamassery! This place has got great infrastructure, growth potential and something about it that makes it very homely. It's also got the Edapally waste disposal site which I'm not really boasting about but at least the waste is disposed somewhere! Finally there's a way to treat non biodegradable waste in this dumping ground. And don't worry about the metro rail project affecting the real estate negatively. This area has a lot of scope for appreciation rise and that's precisely what's going to happen :)I really like Kalamassery! Arey not just insects, these wells are full of garbage from homes, faecal matter etc. Its a real threat to the hygiene of the locality. The DMRC has even conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment of the effects of these wells and found them to be extremely harmful, by spreading diseases and being a breeding ground of mosquitoes. They are also contributing a big deal to the overall pollution of this locality. As far as I know, there were also a number of flats at Judge mukku in Thrikkakara, where owners have occupied without obtaining an occupation certificate. I’m a broker myself, and I never let things like this happen in my dealings. Everybody should know by now that the certificate is extremely vital - a valid proof that you’re the legal owner to that property. I think GDCA is still expecting 70% funding from the state, and I'm not sure whether they've got all the approvals yet. Even private agencies are interested in investing in these projects, so that's another source of funds. As of right now the 32 mission projects under the Mission Cochin scheme, proposed by the civic body need to be completed on time. There are already guidelines being planned to help accelerate the work. The Marine Drive office space is currently under construction. But the conversion of the Libra hotel at Paramara road into an women's hotel, solely run by women is what is the most noteworthy project according to me. Such horrible things have happened because of the narrowness of these roads. A woman waiting at the Vaduthala bus stop was rammed by a bus onto the Don Bosco wall and killed because there was literally no space for anybody to move. A bride and bridegroom had to leave the car and run to the church as they were getting late for their marriage ceremony. The residents have faced so many hardships especially during the peak hours, which is from 8 to 10 am & 5 to 7 pm. The residents have suggested that 3 metres of Don Bosco be claimed so that the road can be widened. They also feel it isn't necessary to get an over bridge as it might make the road narrower. The campus would solely be for those environment friendly companies like IT, ITES and Logistics companies. Apparently there are 5 companies who have taken up mainstream business and services in this campus and many entrepreneurs and new businesses are looking to set up base here. The response so far has been excellent from investors within Kerela and those from all across the nation. The project which was implemented with the help of Kudumbashree workers who went to each household collecting waste and seggregating it and then finally dumping the waste in Vedimara dumping ground has been turned down by the currnt municipal council. Such a pity because this 5.5 crore project funded by Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme of Small and Medium Towns was inspirational to other muncipalities. And now, nobody is collecting the waste from households and as a result, open dumping is taking place where residents throw all their garbage on the streets. This is really aggravating the situation. Even the autos that were bought for collecting this waste were just lying idle outside the municipal office. Kaloor has faced some drastic civic issues in the past. First and foremost the slaughterhouse in Kaloor needs to be remodelled as the Cochin Port Trust still hasn't given Kochi Corporation the required sanction to set up a state of the art abbatoir in the locaity. Residents of the area are disgusted by the lack of tending to the civic issues as a result of the slaughterhouse. The blood from here actually seeps into the drains and canals and enters the water level. Such unhygienic conditions need to be dealt with by the civic authorities. However, alternative solutions were provided and one was that the blood from the slaughterhouse needs to be treated instead of closing the drains. There was also a plastic shredder installed right? No actually I don't think it is there yet but there are plans for making it to treat plastic waste which also caused a big problem for Brahmapuram as there was so much plastic waste clogging up the drains and what not. As of right now, the expenditure for water supply is being equally shared by three companies i.e Indian Rare Earths Limited, Hindustan Insecticides Limited and Mechem ltd. Water is being distributed by Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) from its own plant. The court also told the water authority to not stop the water distribution to the 2144 families living in Eloor municipality. I don't think the area is a prime locality to invest in the first place. Especially now that there are these rising civic issues. This bridge project was undertaken by Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd. and the project was very costly. That's why there was such a heavy toll fee imposed on motorists for 13 years and 9 months. This toll was there since 2001 when the project began. Gammon Ltd had signed an agreement with the state government and Greater Cochin Development Authority for the tenure of this toll fee. Now GCDA has taken over the bridge to keep up with the maintenance works of the bridge. However, as Kochi started to experience rising population pressures, so did the infrastructural facilities in this locality. That's why something must be done about the intense traffic chaos that happens everyday during particularly during peak hour traffic time. These civic issues must soon be solved by the municipality. The municipality which formed in 1953 was known as land of timber industry and Travancore Rayons. But times have now changed as they have a lot of civic issues to rid Kochi off. This locality is in badly in need of the 2.7 km bypass from Palakkettu Thazham to Maruth Kavala on AM Road. This will definitely ease traffic congestion in this area. Heya.. there is a need to develop the infrastructure in Aluva as soon as possible. But as of now, no improvement seems to be done. The Seaport airport road needs to be stretched to Aluva. Hello.. the Edapally flyover is still under construction. It was supposed to be ready by now but due to some issues the construction work was on hold for a while. Yeah, its mainly because of the restoration work only, that the GCDA are demanding that the PWD hand over the responsibilities of the Mattanchery bridge to them. The PWD had actually done some work on the approach road a few years ago. But they couldn’t do much work on the bridge as they couldn’t find any interested contractors. From what I’ve learnt, there is currently an ongoing discussion between the GDCA and the PWD. The GCDA wants to have full control of the bridge so that they can do some restoration work on this bridge and invest in developing it further. I feel that the situation has gotten much worse ever since they closed up the pocket roads near FACT nagar. Hey, Edakochi is actually a nice place to invest in. It is one of the oldest localities in the city. A number of good schools and colleges are present. It would be a good idea to invest as real estate prices will boom in the coming future. However, keep in mind that the closest hospital is at least 8 to 13 km away from the city. I dont think it will make that big a mark, to be honest. Despite putting in almost rs 1.44 crores into its renovations, this project has even failed to find a single taker. It was supposed to be the centre of an art hub in Ernakulum, but I dont see that happening, with the lack of interest that has been generated over this project. The metro which is under construction has a metro station near this area, so the connectivity to other places are very easy. They offer 3 bhk apartments, i think.

Hye Gandhi Nagar is right next to the Ernakulam South Junction ! The Ernakulam South Railway Station is only 1 and a half km from here. So there wont be any problem if you want to travel any where outside. Yes I have heard of these villas in Thrikkakara. I heard that the villa styling has been done entirely upto Keralan aesthetics. So it will be a beautiful traditional yet modern Keralan housek, since this is basically a designer villa.
All these pretty amazing features are being providing under this project. For example, there is excellent security services provided with video door phone and surveillance system for common areas. There is even some nice exterior landscaping work done in the front courtyard.

The infrastructure of this are is quite good. You can see that the connectivity to various parts of the city is very easily possible. The Thykoodam Bridge as well as the Chembakkara Bridge are here only. The Ettumanoor Ernakulam Road as well as the Salem Kochi Kanyakumari Highway is located in this area only.
In fact, even if you talk about the social infrastructure of this region also, it is quite good. There are some good schools and educational institutions here like Christ King Convent School, Cute Institute of Fashion Designing, St. Thomas School, Soure Missionarie Dell' Incarnazione school, Toc H Public School, Vishwapadmam Public School etc.

Hey Mig and Hig colony has and is near to a number of recreational facilities in the locality as well. It has a seperate Sports complex and many shoping malls and theatres like cinepolis and Mahadev Cinemas and Mymoon theatre are all pretty nearby to gandhi Nagar. the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium is also here.
Yeah Mig and Hig Colony is a nice locality and it is also close to the national highway 15 that goes to Ettumanoor. Thats is why it is pretty developed and I think there will be much more development in here in the future,

Thoppil is a very good locality in the Edappally region, no..the connectivity by railway is also quite good here. The Edappally railway station is very much depended on for local travels. I would like to say that Kumaranasan Nagar is centrally located in the Kochi city region. This is a very popular residential locality. The Railway Marshling Yard is very near to the locality. North Block is one good residential block of Kumaranasan Nagar actually.

As far as I know, according to the present market conditions, the rate of a plot in Alfiya Nagar is quite high. The price can go as high as rs. 1100 per square feet. In the calculation on cents, then for a cent of land here, the price will be around rs. 10 lakhs or so on. I think that the price is around rs. 3890 per square feet to rs. 5600 per square feet in the present market condition. I think that the price of the proerties are quite high in Mythri Nagar because it is near to the region of Edapally. It is one of the projects undertaken by the National builders. They have completed several other residential projects in and around Kochi and Mumbai. National Builders are currently working on 5 residential projects in Kochi. The apartments are still under construction and the dates of possession have not come out yet.

Vadavukode has a good social set up. There is mostly houses here. There is a small town developing near to the Vadavucode junction. The commercial infrastructure of this area is not that attractive. The Kochi metro has finally stepped up to take over the land that was needed for the meto works in Seematti. There was a lot of opposition from the textile firm as this had been stopping the progress of the metro project.

Exactly. But they are not keeping quite about it. DMRC with the help of the civil contractorrs the L and T have decided to increase the strength of the work force by at least 1500 right now to get the work done according to the schedule. Exactly. I can tell you that the State government has promised trade union leaders of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT) that it would expedite work on the pending natural gas pipeline

You know, meanwhile, a snag at the Koodamkulam plant has stopped the supply of 130 MW from there. The plant is expected to resume supply only in January. To be precise...According to the court, in case where quarrying/mining lease which were existing on the date of issuance of notification dated 14/9/2006 or on the date of issue of the order dated 18/5/2012 by the Government of India, Ministry of Environment and Forests with regard to area less than 5 hectares, no environmental clearance with regard to extraction of minor mineral is required. I wanted to tell you that the punching machine would help reduce the volume of the plastic, which would make the storage easy. If the landowner continues to show hesistance for parting with their land, revenue department will have to acquire it forcibly. Bhadra, who presented the budget, said that the additional revenue is expected from property tax (Rs. 10 crore), property tax enforcement (Rs. 10 crore), professional tax (Rs. 10 crore), advertisement tax (Rs. 2 crore), entertainment tax (Rs. 3 crore) and hoarding tax (Rs. 5 crore).Oh..that's nice.
